Streetfest '10 Cosplay

Ooow, it has been like super loooong since I last blogged ! I am getting all rusty, hopes my D90 didn't grow any mushrooms on it.

Now is finally my school holidays. FINALLY! WOOHOO! Okay, it's just one week but am still very happy about it! I am going to bring ALL my K-ON nenodroids out for a nice photoshoot picnic and okay, all the other figures I got from since April. Will write more about my new poly school life soon ! :D

This is Streetfest that is still taking place now at Plaza Singapura's open plaza. The Japanese pop-culture has ended though. There's still some cool punk street stuff going on though!

This streetfest is actually a small cosplay event but it is very FUN ! There is quite a number of new cosplays and there is this very awesome performance but some J-pop bands! I like Overhit! :D

Naruto: Hyuga Neji 02

Highly proficient in the Gentle Fist style of combat, Neji is the prodigy of the Hyuga clan who has the ability to replicate the styl’e’s most powerful techniques through simple observation. He further refines these abilities and fix its inherent flaws.

Beautiful cosplay! I wish I could read the Chinese characters on the lower right as it’s probably the cosplayer’s name. Good job on this though!

Naruto: Hyuga Neji

The child prodigy of the Hyuga Clan who has the ability to replicate the most powerful Gentle Fist attacks by simple observation, Neji is a member of Team Guy who used to believe in in a fatalistic philosophy: one’s destiny is inescapable and weak person will always be weak.

Because he is among his clan’s lower house, he is ineligible to learn the Clan’s most secret techniques making him bitter towards the people of the main house. His defeat in a battle with Naruto allows him to see the errors of his philosophy in life and made him fix his estranged relations with the main house, and eventually receiving training from the leader of the main house.

Here we are on New Year’s eve, on the day where people around the world are preparing for the end of the year. The special day where people around the world gather together to celebrate the coming year and get completely trashed in the process. Let me make this day even more special with the final ‘Sexy Cosplay Of The Week’ for 2010. Gathering around for this special event is like gathering for a convention, people just love to dress up in costumes. So how about we pop a few bottles and throw some streamers for Nerdbastards final cosplayer of the year.

This week we speak the name of: Firefly Path

Hailing from the city of Angels, good old Los Angeles, California is a brilliant woman known to the online community as ‘Lillyxandra’. To everyone else JoEllen Elam is simply known as Firefly Path. This firefly has her own spark for creation and design which caused her to become interested in becoming a costume designer and make-up artists. It was like she was just preparing for cosplay. It does help your career working at the University of North Texas and interning with Project Runway season 1 contestant Vanessa Riley. Doing cosplay with no knowledge can be a big hinderance, Firefly Path has just been trained and that means she has a lot of ideas left floating in her head.

Firefly Lily hasn’t only shown off her cosplay skills around conventions, she lives in a city surrounded by actors and business. When she not performing as someone from anime, video games, film she’s make costumes for companies and nightclubs. Her skills in make-up made her the key make-up artist for the internet web series ‘There will be brawl’ and ‘Fear news’ on Fear Net. JoEllen’s work as also been seen in magazines around America and the rest of the world. From Japanese magazine “CosMode”, Mexican “Cosplay Mix”, and the UK’s “Cube”, and French Magazine “Kogaru” as well as numerous website. She’s also been a guest at conventions across North America, Mexico, Chile, Columbia, Canada, Russia, Germany and Italy. How kind of her to share her knowledge, after all she paid her education while most people just re-read instructions.

Sexy Cosplay of The Week: Pixelninja

Friday, friday, friday, how much do we all love friday? A day where everyone gets off work at their respective times and get two days to relax and enjoy the weekend. What a better way to start your weekend with the weekly ‘Sexy Cosplay of The Week’ kick-starting your day. Each week around the world there’s a comic book or anime convention somewhere and that means people in costumes. Hundreds of hours planning, cutting and sewing leading up to two, sometimes three, days of nerd bliss. Where skin tight clothing won’t get you strange looks from the general public, it leads to “How did you put that together?” From beginners to experts, cosplay is for everyone and highlights the spirit of a person, their ingenuity. So without further delay let’s pull on our collectable shirts, throw on our passes and get on with this, shall we.

This week we speak the name of: Pixelninja

This week we go international with Jenni Källberg, otherwise known as Pixelninja to us non-cosplayers. Born in 1982 this resident of Stockholm, Sweden she is of both Swedish and Japanese descendants (how cool is that?). This woman isn’t just a cosplayer, she’s an engaged cosplayer. Just goes to show that not only does cosplaying increase self-esteem, it can land you a husband. Between cosplaying Pixelninja enjoys drawing, painting, and playing some good old video games. Her Favorite games are Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario, Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid, making it easy to see why she loves details in her costumes. With all this its easy to see why Pixelninja has the accomplishments she does.

Pixelninja has been heavily involved in cosplay since 1999 and what a climb she has had the last 12 years. From the creation of 27 highly detailed costumes to her exposure in various magazines and media. If her name sounds familiar it should, Pixelninja created that extraordinary Samus Varia costume from last year. That’s right, all those heavy detail were hand crafted and the look amazing. Published in magazines like Nintendo Power, Electric Gaming Monthly and various websites around the world. Her cosplay also opened the doors to several job opportunities, touring with Nintendo of Europe as part of the Metroid Prime Trilogy in Germany. How awesome is that, being part of a media tour and your dressed as the star heroine.
